What the manufacturer documents establish

The product page’s technical table and size guide disagree for SS1 and SS4. The installation manual’s specification page also lists 11 and 13 GPM. Agreement between two tables does not explain the differing guide figures or establish their pressure-loss conditions.
Manual PDF pages 15–16 specify SS1/SS4 capacity entries of 32,000/48,000 and refill times of 8/10 minutes, with 10% reserve and a 14-day override. These are setup instructions, not documented capacity-versus-salt-dose test results. Refill minutes alone are insufficient to infer pounds of salt. These settings are not instructions for using our eight-day planning scenario.
Evidence needed to close the gap
- Model-specific usable capacities at stated pounds of salt per regeneration, with test conditions and document revision.
- Default salt dose and how controller capacity, reserve and dosing relate.
- Continuous service flow with pressure loss and an explanation of the SS1/SS4 conflicting figures.
- Iron and manganese limits, pretreatment requirements and applicable water-chemistry limits.
A documented comparison
Other manufacturers do publish paired capacity/salt-dose data. Our methodology table reproduces the Whirlpool WHES40/WHES44 ratings from their manual. The working-capacity guide shows how to compare those numbers with a scenario. Those figures cannot be transferred to SpringWell.
